Build a music career
one room at a time.
The business side isn't hard so much as invisible. Nothing happens when you register a song, and nothing happens when you don't — until two years later, when the money doesn't arrive. Artista makes it visible: real work, in ten-minute pieces, and a building that fills up behind you.
The demo is the real app, running in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Lit rooms are work you've actually done. Dashed ones are built and waiting. Nothing here can be bought.
Being the artist is the easy part
We sat down with working artists and wrote down what actually goes wrong. None of it was about talent.
Nobody tells you the order
PRO, publishing admin, neighbouring rights, distributor, ISRC, UPC. Every one of them matters, none of them is urgent today, and no one hands you the list.
The splits live in a spreadsheet
A tab per song, a different tab for the recording, featured and non-featured performers — and one person who remembers how it works.
It all sits in eleven tabs
Distributor here, analytics there, contracts in email, receipts in a photo roll. Nothing talks to anything else, so nothing ever feels finished.
A career with no building, given a building
There's no office, no label, no floor of people whose job is your record. So the work never looks like anything. In Artista it does — and the picture is made only of things you really did.
Rooms open by work, never by payment
Register a song and the filing room opens. Book a show and the stage does. There is no room in this hotel you can buy, and none you can unlock by turning up.
Nothing decays
Disappear for three months and the hotel is exactly as you left it. No streak lost, nothing taken away. Burnout is normal in this job; a tool that punishes it is useless.
Quests are the real checklist
Not busywork invented for a game — the same 22 setup steps and 17 release steps you'd have to do anyway, cut into ten-minute pieces with one line on why each one matters.
Enter a song once. Everything else knows about it.
Your catalog is the spine. A song carries its own credits, splits, rights, agreements and links — so a release, a press kit, a pitch or a royalty question is built from what's already there instead of being re-typed for the fifth time.
- Splits that add to 100% on both the song and the recording, or the app says so
- ISRC, UPC, language, genre and credits kept where the distributor expects them
- Rights registrations tracked per song: PRO, publishing, copyright, neighbouring
- Every smart link, agreement and payment traceable back to the song that earned it
Midnight Tide
Five places you'll actually use
Twelve screens in total, built over seven things: songs, releases, people, shows, agreements, money and promo. No feature exists unless an artist asked for it.
Catalog
Every song, finished or not. Metadata, credits, splits, rights and the paperwork attached to it.
Releases
A dated plan per release — seventeen steps counted back from release day, so nothing is remembered too late.
Promote
Smart links that open the right app, a content plan, pitch tracking, and a fan list that belongs to you.
Money
Income, expenses and grants against each release, so you can say what a record actually cost.
Shows
From first enquiry to booked, with the contact and the fee kept on the show.
Progress
Levels, achievements and a weekly rhythm — all computed from the work, never stored as a score.
Worth having, or not worth showing
Gamification usually means being paid to click. Ours has four rules, and we'd rather lose the feature than break them.
Only real work scores
Registering a song with your PRO is worth 150 points. Opening the app is worth nothing, forever.
Nothing can be farmed
The big ones score once per song. The small repeatable ones cap out each week.
Sample data earns nothing
The demo is full of example songs. Not one of them moves your score by a single point.
No loss mechanics
No decay, no penalties, no "you're falling behind", and no comparison to other artists.
Recomputed, never stored
Your score is worked out from your own activity every time it's shown, so it can't drift and can't be fudged.
Every reward points forward
A level-up that just says "nice" is a dead end. Ours name the next useful thing to do.
No free trial. Ever.
Free trials train people to leave. There's a genuinely useful free plan instead — and when you want the rest, you decide to pay for it on purpose.

FAQ
Is the demo real, or a mock-up?
It's the real app. Everything works — add songs, settle splits, plan a release, tick quests. It saves in your own browser and sends nothing anywhere. Accounts and sync come with launch.
Do I have to care about the hotel?
No. It's one tab. If you only ever use Artista to keep your splits straight, that's a perfectly good way to use it.
What happens to what I enter in the demo?
It stays in your browser, and you can export it as a file at any time. When accounts arrive, that file imports straight into your new account.
Is this only for a particular kind of artist?
It's built for independent artists who own their own recordings — solo or in a group, any genre. If someone else handles all your admin, you don't need this.
How is this different from my distributor's dashboard?
A distributor cares about getting a release live. Artista cares about everything either side of that: who wrote what, who's owed what, what's registered, what it cost and what came back.
What about SmartLink?
SmartLink's smart deep-linking is built in as the Promote pillar, so your links and your catalog finally live in the same place.
